The Smash Mix!

I’m an eclectic mixmaster, club promoter, music reviews writer, and all around fan of
bitchin’ tunes, good vibes, and tasty aural treats. I’ve been spinning music in alternative
dance clubs since 1981 (yes - that’s not a typo). First back in Boston (my hometown -
where I also worked at both WBCN and WFNX), and here in Los Angeles since 1988.

I did Alternative Radio Promo at Warner Bros. Records from ‘88-’94, then left the label to branch out and manage bands: I worked with Porno For Pyros, an awesome LA band called Extra Fancy,
and a super talented guy named Barnes. But in 1998 I went back to full-time DJing,
club & events promotion, and I continue to write for Frontiers In LA Magazine

In my 25+ year career as a club DJ, DRAGSTRIP 66 is my ultimate pride and joy. Running for over 16 years now, Dragstrip has become it’s own little phenomenon and community marker, bringing together gay, straight, bi, the young, the old, and the glamourous & the garish - in an explosion of amazing creativity & beautiful energy. There’s nothing else quite like it!

Dragstrip 66 is now on the 2nd Saturday quarterly @ The Echoplex in Echo Park, LA

In early 2004, I discovered radio station INDIE 103.1FM here in LA, and I knew I HAD to work there!
I contacted Indie about seeing if they wanted to start airing mashup tracks. They said yes, and at first
I was presenting something called “The Mashup Of The Day” - which lead to “The Smash Mix”
airing on Friday afternoons from 5:30pm-6:00pm - a nice chunk of mashups, remixes,
new wave, electro, and generally anything cool and different I was digging.

And from 2007-2009, I hosted “Neon Noise” on Indie, every Saturday night from
12-Midnight till 3am - which was a DJ mix show featuring electro beats meets indie rock.
